Traditional Music for All Ages
The Shepherd School of Irish Music offers high quality Irish music lessons on all instruments, to musicians of all ages and experience levels. Our teachers have many years of experience teaching and performing internationally. Our students gain strong technical ability and musical expression, while developing their own personal style informed by familiarity with the music of Irish music masters.
We teach that Irish traditional music is a subtle art form, expressing a full spectrum of emotional experience, shaped by enturies of great creativity. We teach our students how to observe and appreciate the intricate, detailed nature of rhythm, phrasing, ornamentation, and variation in the music.
Currently, we offer online lessons via Zoom and FaceTime, so you can join us from anywhere in the world! We have taught online since 2008, exclusively online since 2020. We’ve found that our online students are very satisfied and make great progress!
